Almost 3,000 Pedestrians Struck by Michigan Cars

Don't let your child, family or friends become a statistic. The famous sidewalks of the Old West Side should be safe for walking. Pedestrians should not walk in fear.

• 2,727 pedestrians involved in motor vehicles crashes, with 141 pedestrians killed and 2,308 injured.
Children under 16 years of age accounted for 12 (16.4%) of the pedestrian deaths in 2004.
Adults over the age of 54 accounted for 41 (29.3%) of the pedestrian deaths in 2004.
